About Pyramid Solitaire – Play Pyramid Solitaire Online

Pyramid Solitaire is a matching game built around a simple rule: remove cards in pairs whose values add up to 13.

The objective in FlyOrDie Pyramid is to remove every card from the pyramid. You do not need to empty the stock to win.

Only cards that are currently free can be used, so success depends on choosing pairs that gradually uncover the cards higher in the pyramid.

Which cards add up to 13?

Aces count as 1, Jacks as 11, Queens as 12 and Kings as 13.

The possible pairs are:

  • Ace + Queen
  • 2 + Jack
  • 3 + 10
  • 4 + 9
  • 5 + 8
  • 6 + 7

A King is worth 13 by itself, so a free King can be removed without a partner.

Suits and colors do not matter.

What is a free card?

A pyramid card is free when no other pyramid card is covering it.

The top card of the waste pile is also considered available.

A covered pyramid card cannot be used even if you can see its value.

Which cards can be paired?

FlyOrDie Pyramid allows two types of pair:

Two free cards from the pyramid can be removed together, or one free pyramid card can be paired with the top card of the waste pile.

Two waste cards cannot be paired with one another because only the current top waste card is available and the second card of the pair must come from the pyramid.

Can cards in the pyramid be rearranged?

No. Pyramid cards cannot be moved into new positions or placed into empty spaces.

They only leave the layout when they form a valid pair totaling 13 or when a free King is removed.

This makes move order especially important. Once you remove a pair, the main benefit is the new cards that become uncovered.

How does the stock work?

Cards are drawn from the stock one at a time onto the waste pile.

The number of times the stock can be cycled through depends on the selected FlyOrDie game mode.

Because the number of passes can be limited, it is useful to pay attention to cards that appear in the waste and consider which pyramid cards may need them later.

What are the foundations in Pyramid?

In FlyOrDie Pyramid, removed cards are collected in a foundation area, but this is not a foundation in the Klondike sense.

There is no building order and no need to arrange removed cards by suit or rank.

Once a card has been removed to the foundation, it cannot return to the pyramid or waste.

Why does move order matter?

Two legal pairs can have very different consequences.

One pair may expose two new cards, while another may expose nothing. In most situations, the move that opens more of the pyramid gives you more future options.

Before removing a pair, look at the cards directly above it and consider what will become available.

Should you remove a free King immediately?

A King does not need a partner, so removing one is often useful. But the same general principle still applies: pay attention to what the move exposes.

The objective is not simply to remove cards quickly, but to keep opening the pyramid.

What happens when no pyramid pair is available?

The stock can provide another playable card through the waste pile.

If a waste card forms a total of 13 with a free pyramid card, the two can be removed together.

If no useful match exists, you can continue drawing according to the rules of the selected game mode.

You do not need to clear the stock

The winning condition is specifically to remove every card from the pyramid.

Cards can still remain in the stock when the final pyramid card disappears.

This means the stock is a tool for clearing the layout, not an additional pile that must itself be emptied.

How can you improve at Pyramid?

Memorize the six pairs that total 13 so that you can recognize matches immediately.

Then start looking beyond the current pair. Prefer moves that expose new cards, especially moves that open the central or upper parts of the pyramid.

Also remember that a useful waste card may be important for a card that is not yet free.

FlyOrDie Pyramid is a compact Solitaire puzzle based on matching free cards to a total of 13.

Pair exposed pyramid cards with one another or with the current waste card, remove free Kings individually and use the stock carefully according to the selected game mode.

The game is won as soon as the pyramid is empty, making the central challenge one of matching the right cards in the right order.
