If you want a die-hard digger, put ALL your points into luck.  During character creation, however, you'll have to put 6 points into something else because it won't let you put more than 10 in Luck.

Put the 6 extra points into Intelligence if you want to eventually have enough mana to build decent items.  Put them into Persistance if you want to be able to carry 6 extra kgs (and gain 3 more hit points per level).  Put them into Dexterity if you want to fight a little to get imp's mushrooms.

Regardless of what I've chosen to do with my own diggers, I think the true die-hard digger puts those extra points into Persistance and leaves the fighting and the building of items up to others.
