ok...i'm gonna have a lil rant now...i dont have a problem with moderators on flyordie. in fact its a good idea cos it keeps the lobbys clean and free from flooding etc etc. however (yes there is a list bishi!!!sorry) 1- sometimes there are about 5 mods in room one and other times there are none..may i suggest some kinda roster thing.i dunno if you even spell it like that! there should be a mod in the room at all times, especialy when it is busy, otherwise i dont see the point of having mods 2- i find the majority of the mods good fun, however one in particular seems to have some kinda problem with either me or how she does her job (ie being a mod)for example...the other night i was being harrased by a fellow player who thought it amusing to slander me across the room one lobby for quite some time...during which sundown was in the room. she said nothing and did nothing...i may be a lil bit slow here, but isnt the main duty of a mod to control the lobby and prevent slander?? 3- there should be some kind of code of conduct etc which we players follow. i know you have the rules etc, but there is no specifications over which words are allowed etc in the lobby. obviously most of the un-allowed words dont come up on the screen, but last week i almost got booted by one mod (see point 2) for saying "dam". now i wasnt aware that dam was considered bad, as i hadnt spelt it correctly. now if flyordie decide "dam" isnt allowed...fair enough, but us players need to know!! (oh and the mods should know this too, cos when i disputed the use of the word "dam", one mod (point 2 bird) claimed it wasnt allowed while another mod decided it was ok....i see contradiction here (but i dont smell the calvin klein variety! lol.sorry bad time for a joke!) 4- where is my funky signature thingy???i asked for one earlier....is no one gonna do me one??maybe if i ask bishi nicely, he will assist my plight! 5- no more points. rant over 6- bishi please dont lock this!!! i was just having my say. freedom of speech and all that! anyways catch ya soon, ooooh and that one hour reward is still waiting for ya bish, amongst other things.... byeeeeeee. cheeky.x
Hi ya Cheeky... Just a brief response to a couple of the items in your post... First, the reason that there are sometimes several moderators in the lobby at the same time is that there is no set schedule. Nor is there a set requirement that we spend some specific number of hours "moderating." I think most of us log on when we have spare time or are in the mood for a game. I for one am a player first, a moderator second. If there are no other moderators around, I will hang around the lobby for a while in case I am needed. If things seem to be pretty quiet, I usually go play a few games. If there are moderators already present, I prefer to find a good game. So to make a short answer long, we don't set out to have lots of moderators in the room at one time and now that we have added several people to the Mod Squad, there seems to be a moderator present a majority of the time. As for for the use of the word "dam", I don't find it offensive. FlyOrDie terms of use spell out general guidelines for behavior. Moderators do their best to "encourage" people to stay within those guidelines. The reason there is no specific, inflexible list of prohibited words is that there has to be some room for flexibility. I am of course speaking for myself here, but I think most of the others think in a similar fashion when I say that the mere use of a slighty profane word (dam for example) is not all that I consider. More important to me is the intent. For example, if someone says "Man, I am playing like shit today," I am not likely to pay much attention to it. The person is not being hateful, mean or attacking someone else. On the other hand, if the person says, "Cheeky, you're a loser, eat shit and die!" I would boot them on the spot. See the differance? It's the intent. So if someone is being vulgar for the sake of vulgarity, being mean, hateful, etc., I have no tolerance. If they just say something technically profane but without bad intent, I am likely to warn them at most. The moderation process by definition is subjective. In other words, it will always vary slighty from moderator to moderator. In the end though, we all have the same goal which is to encourage a safe, pleasant gaming environment. Things do happen that do not always get corrected, whether there are a lot of MODS in the room or when there is just one. Many players think being a Mod is a power trip, as it has been stated so much. That is not the reason I wanted to be a MOD. I am here to stamp out all the disgusting language and to protect the rights of all players. I see my job description, as one to resolve problems and to keep all players playing and doing so in a friendly environment. I treat all fairly. There are extenuating circumstances that causes some things to be overlooked, such as the flow on the chat board. I believe you will have to admit, I do my job well and treat all fair. I cannot offer you an explanation why I missed this event you complain of. I do my best, as all the MODS do. Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. SunDown

Then, may I ask, what the heck are you replying for? I appreciate that the mods are sometimes busy, and cannot have their full attention to the lobby at all times, but if that is the case, then they should use their 'BRB' button. If someone is using inappropiate language in the lobby, and a mod is present, we expect the mod to do something about it. SunDown, forgive me if I'm wrong, but I can't recall you ever booting someone, even though your name has been present and someone has been abusing the other players, please get your act together. Sorry Cheeky, I haven't much of a clue why you can't log on. I have that problem every once in a long while and clearing my browser cache (temporary internet files) and rebooting my pc usually fixes the problem. If that doesn't work, I guess we will have to consult someone less clueless than I.
