Highland Regiment Black Watch

For those interested..
The British government is trying to disband or should I say make military cuts on one of the longest serving Scottish units in Britain, the Royal Highland Regiment  Black Watch. It's the only Highland Regiment left, and will be disbanded after the mission in Iraq is over with. They were by our side in WWII and Korea, and again they are there supporting our soldiers in Iraq. I think the least we can do, is sign the petition.

If I were a citizen of your country, 
I would not hesitate for one moment to sign the petition, because I feel these historic and valuable fighting units are a important part of any freedom loving armed force.

however, I am American, but proudly can say, with decendants that immigrated to America on the ship Mayflower, so, I cannot sign it because I don't think my signature would be recognized as valid,  unfortunately. 

But I do support your cause...and I wish you and your association the best of luck in reversing Mr. Blair's decision.

I also am an american. Ghost may know me under another SN from a few years ago. I hang out in the sunny state of Florida.  The link was sent to me by a friend to get as many signatures as possible to maybe help stop the loss of this historical unit.   Its kind of like disbanding the 82nd or 101st Airborne.

I've just read a good book called Amongst The Marines by Steven Preece.  It brought back some great memories from my service days.  May be one of us should write a book of this kind.  It would certainly raise our profile.  If they disband us, they're disbanding one of the best scottish regiments and one of the best regiments in the WORLD.
