Another “Claimed Draw” with PDN
Yet another claimed draw that I was going to win. Attached PDN file. How long before you guys admit that this is a mistake?

If you refuse to change this, how about giving us a way to block players who use this? Every single time this has been used against me, the player cowardly leaves so quickly that you don’t have a chance to respond. I don’t care to play with anyone who uses this option to, (in my opinion), cheat.

The draw was claimed due to 3-fold repetition. The same position occurred three times, after moves 45, 47, and 49.

I think the key words to that phrase is “the referee”, meaning a human can examine the board and determine whether or not the game is indeed a draw. If “the referee” sees that there is a chance that the game can be concluded with a win or loss he would deny the claimed draw. You are taking the human element out of it and letting a machine decide that repeated moves is a draw with no further consideration.

No. The referee does not decide whether the position is otherwise winnable or whether it “should” be a draw. The referee only determines whether the conditions for threefold repetition have been met. If they have, the player is entitled to claim a draw.

I’d just like to add to what the DEVELOPER has already explained.

I understand your point about the wording referring to “the referee”, but that’s really intended for over-the-board play where a human referee is available to assess the position.

FlyOrDie is an automated online platform. With thousands of games being played, it’s simply not practical for a human referee to review every claimed draw. Instead, the game engine applies the rule consistently and objectively to every game.

In this case, the DEVELOPER has confirmed that the same position occurred three times, so the draw was awarded exactly as the system is designed to do.
And….you made my point perfectly. There is no one on this forum over six years old that would assume a human interaction in this situation could happen. Again, as you pointed out, a human can’t interact, therefore that rule does not apply in this case. Let the game play out until either time runs out or number of moves maxes out. Letting the computer simply say, “ok there have been three repeated moves, game over” is not a practical move.
