The cue ball moving in pool!
Hello! Can someone please tell all the billiards players that moving the cue ball is legal!!! Not only you have the option on right bottom ( on phone), but the rule is also on WBPSA site, you can check it, you can ask AI!
I'm so disturbed that more than 50% of the players I've played are complaining in chat that I don't "fair play" and that "I make the game worse" because I move the cue ball when they scratch or fail!
I have some names, but I won't tell them because I always hated to NOT RESPECT THE RULES!
Also there are players that are winning frames by luck and then laugh at me and say that I'm amateur!
Please FlyOrDie fix this and tell the players that this rule does exit and everyone that plays pool for real actually use it and nobody complains!
Thank you!

I’m hereby telling all the billiards players. ;)

We’ve only been fighting this battle for about 25 years, so I’m sure everyone will get the message any day now.

But yes: moving the cue ball after a foul is part of the rules. If someone prefers a game where the opponent can’t do that, BlackBall Pool is probably the one they’re looking for.

The thing is almost nobody plays Blackpool or Straight Pool, Snooker Lite or SINUCA. Just 8 or 9 Ball or snooker or 6 reds!
Blackball rules on this website are incorrect

It's true they are incorrect. Not sure who is down-voting but the black ball rules on this website are not black ball rules!

I want to offer a positive perspective, especially in light of the recent improvements to 8-ball pool.

The developer is absolutely right: the rule of the cue ball in hand after a foul is an integral part of the official rules, and FlyOrDie has always adhered to it. Thanks to the new applications and updates for 8-ball pool, the platform is getting even closer to the real game: more modern, more precise, and more enjoyable for everyone.

These updates have been designed to benefit all players:

clearer application of the rules,

smoother gameplay,

an improved interface and options,

and an overall more realistic pool experience.

It is therefore important that we, as a community, support these improvements and help beginners or less experienced players understand the rules, instead of criticizing those who apply them correctly.

Using the cue ball-in-hand rule is perfectly fair and fully aligns with the platform's direction: greater authenticity, more consistency, and improved gameplay.

If a player prefers a version where the cue ball doesn't move after fouls, Blackball Pool is indeed the ideal mode. It's fantastic that FlyOrDie offers different rule sets so everyone can choose the one that suits them best.

Let's continue to encourage players to learn the rules of their chosen game and commend the work done to modernize the platform for everyone's benefit.

The funny thing is, this phenomenon only occurs at low ratings. As soon as the level rises, this nonsense stops.
Because higher ratings means you know to play the game.
Hence my username, I am sick of this even being mentioned in games it sends me to sleep zzzzzzz.
dude go ahead and move. i dont like moving thats all lol
The reason i don't like the move rule is this isn't real pool! There are way too many scratches. This software has several flaws, scratching too much & the stick moves when you're not ready, are 2 that annoy me! At home when I had a table, we didnt move the cue ball. This site isn't for serious players.
Saying "at home, we didn't move the cue ball" makes no sense here. FlyOrDie applies the international rules of 8-ball billiards, not everyone's personal rules.

Claiming that "this site isn't for serious players" because the physical appearance isn't identical to a real table is an unfair criticism. In a virtual game, you'll never achieve the perfection of real billiards: the cue, the grooves, the sensitivity... all of that depends on a computer engine, not the physical hardware.

The developer has taken all these aspects into account and has even added alternative modes like "The Bar," specifically designed for those who want to play with different rules or a simpler experience. The explanations are detailed, the options are available, and you just have to try them to appreciate the work that's been done.

Criticizing is easy, but accuracy is key: it's not FlyOrDie that imposes fanciful rules; it's certain players who persist in imposing their own. Here, the rules are official and alternatives are offered. It is up to each player to choose the mode that suits them best.
