❗ Technical Explanation: Access Challenges from Russia ❗
Hi,
Thank you for bringing up the issue of access from Russia and the need to use a VPN. This is a crucial topic, and we want to provide a transparent technical explanation.
First and foremost: We do not intentionally block IP addresses from Russia or any other region. The issue you are experiencing is not caused by a block on our side, but by the complex routing and filtering issues that occur on the network path between your location and our servers in Hungary.
🌐 Why the Connection Fails Without a VPN
The challenge lies in the way data travels across international boundaries, especially between Russia and the European Union.
1️⃣ Cross-Border Routing Instability (BGP Issues):
▸ Data packets traveling from Russia to the EU must often pass through numerous network hubs (hops) managed by various providers.
▸ These routes are currently subject to significant geopolitical factors, meaning their stability is compromised. The paths are often unstable, slow, or deprioritized compared to connections within the EU.
▸ When this cross-border path suffers from high latency or packet loss, the connection times out before it can reliably reach our server in Hungary. This leads to the system perceiving the game site as "unavailable" or "blocked" for you.
2️⃣ Regulatory Filtering and Inspection:
▸ Certain network protocols and data streams are subject to increased national filtering or inspection as they cross borders. This is a common technical consequence in the current regulatory environment.
▸ This filtering introduces delays and packet loss, causing our server to lose the connection.
🌐 Why the VPN Solves the Problem
When you use a VPN (Virtual Private Network), you are not just changing your visible location; you are changing the entire network path of your data:
1️⃣ Creating a Stable Tunnel: The VPN client establishes a secure, encrypted tunnel to a stable VPN server (e.g., in Germany or the Netherlands).
2️⃣ Bypassing the Unstable Route: Your connection now travels through a much more reliable and less filtered path to this VPN endpoint. From the VPN server, the connection to our server in Hungary is seen as an internal EU connection, which is generally fast and stable.
Your ability to connect via a VPN is the proof that the problem is not with our server, but with the specific network infrastructure between your provider and the EU, which is directly impacted by the current environment.
We understand this inconvenience, but as the issue lies with large-scale international network routing that is outside of our control, the use of a stable VPN remains the most reliable workaround for players in regions facing these challenges.
Thank you for your understanding
