Frame per rate
Why does the frame per rate is so low now? What have they done to the game that makes the frame per rate so low now your not able to play anymore?
I have tried the game on a mac with a 2,53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with a gpu NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 Mo.
I am unable to play. It use to work perfectly.
I tried to play on an intel core I7 with windows. I am all so unable to play. The game detect that the frame per rate is very low and tell me to disable some graphic elements. I do disable them but still the frame per rate i so low that your not able to shoot.
It looks like the operators are not the programmers of the game. They never answer on those questions. The programmer should be able to make some optimization on the java code so that it work like it used to.
Hoping to play again... I am sure i am not the only guy who has this issue.
Anyone else has the low frame per rate issue?
There's been no change to Billiards, the issue is most likely local to your PC. Please check your system for malware. You can use task manager to locate programs consuming CPU resources in the background.
hello,

Thanks you for reply.
Im all so a java programmer, and system engineer, although i do not work on rich client platform like FOD. I am working more on server side web programming. I suppose your using an api like open gl who is not only using cpu but all so gpu.
The issue isn't local on my pc. I've got the issue on different computers, one on windows and the other on mac, so unless i have a malware on pc and mac, witch is unlikely. There is very few malware on mac... I am absolutly sure i don't have any. I checked all the thread on both computers.
I checked my cpu while running fod on both computer. I noted that when i start moving the cue or the view, the amount of usage of the java thread on cpu increase very quickly and unormaly, that is surely due to the performance of the program and not due to any malware. I know java optimization code is not an easy thing to do, but you should be able to fix that and improve it.
Thank you again for your help.
What latency figures are you seeing to FOD? It's been a while since I have been here, but I recall that each time I had problems it was related to my ISP routing.
My flyordie is having issues. I can't use my browser when I have flyordie game open because it stalls or freezes my game white causing me to leave my match. Its only since I updated java recently that this problem has been occurring maybe one of you could help me out with this please.
hello WRX S1,

thank you for your answer.
I have this issue when i am using the game in training mode, It is lagging on training mode. there is no need for using network on training mode. I am sure of that.
To prouve it, try to play on training mode, load completely
the game and then close your network connexion, your will see it doesn't affect the game at all, you can still play. So there is no remote procedure call (using of the network) on training mode, only when you play in real against an opponent. In other term, its not an ISP routing problem (this would be a network problem).
This means that the performance problems are located on your computer, cpu or gpu. 3d programs are using a lot off ressources, and optimization is not an easy thing to do, but i hope they will try.
Hi Denver broncos,

I don't have this issue sorry. I stopped playing on real mode due to lagging problem.
For example, i was able to make century on training mode, i can't hardly now make a half century. So playing real opponent was to frustrating so i stopped.
By freezing, do you mean the game stop completely or is it only lagging a lot (very slow)?
If its freezing completely on real mode, i am not sure but it could be a network issue. Because the real game is different than the training mode and requires network to work correctly.
FOD 3D games do not use any 3D GPU, we have a custom software renderer. High CPU load may be OK. However, on my PC, which is a 5 years old i7 running Windows XP, shaking the view in 8Ball practice mode results in 8-12% CPU load (while using full 16xAA). Using retro mode setting it barely gets over 5%.

The game's rendering engine didn't change during the last two years. Was the frame rate ever ok on your systems?
Unfortunately, Java updates can cause performance degradation. However, if it's slow even in retro mode then I'd suspect a Java misconfiguration, such as JIT is disabled for some reason.
You could try to fully uninstall/reinstall Java. Also, you could install an older Java version if it was working better on your system.
Hi Eddy

I can go into play fod any billiard game as thats all I play and everything will be fine for 30 mins maybe an hour. If I click to open anybodys info or any toplist then my game will start lagging really bad the info or toplist wont open then it freezes my game freezes my entire browser then closes my fod game as the screen just goes white so I can do nothing with it. Only since I updated Java as it made me do it I have had this issue. I've tried other browsers but the same thing keeps happening. My net is pretty good and I have never experienced troubles with Disconnecting and over the past month or two it seems to be a regular occurrance which my net has been better as I upgraded rather than it be worse.
I have an intel 2,53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. So i have 2 cores i think, you have up to 8 core. The percentage of usage that is given is only for one core on mac. So if you have up to 8 core on you I7 and if the percentage of usage on pc is given for the 8 core, so it could be similar.
I reinstalled java no change...
I am quite sure JIT is not disabled. It is quite hard to disable JIT. Its a very basic feature of java. I don't even think it can be done on configuration. You can do it as an argument on the runtime. It is certainly not disabled on my pc and on my mac.
I agree it could be due to a java update.
I will try older version.
The frame rate use to be better, i don't remember excactly when, i think it is less than one year before. it has never been perfect but i was able to play and to predict the distance the cue ball will be going. No, its lagging so much that its unplayable.
Thank you for the time you took to answer.
Hi Denver,

The issue is perhaps dur to a java update yes. I hope it will be fixed...
System updated to java 8.

It si still lagging lot and no real answer from FOD...
