I've suggested the Chinese Checkers, so you got my vote there. :)
I'd also like to have something around the lines of Draughts, which is almost exactly like Checkers as well but played on a 10 x 10 bored and the queen (king) can move anywhere in one direction on her color that she is on.
Also a bit more reality should be allowed too... in real life you are not forced to take a jump in checkers, but you will lose that piece if you do not take a jump. I beleive this will add a bit more strategy to checkers.
I would also like to suggest a newer type of Blitz Chess. It's called "Compulsion Chess". This may not be very popular, because my school is the only one to my knowledge that plays it. You choose between 1-5 minutes of thinking time, and you wager a piece from the back row (not the king). You take those pieces off the board, and neither player will use those pieces. It can be kinda hard to do in the end, as most people tend to rid the queen and rooks lol. If anything I wouldn't mind seeing some of this play added into even normal chess, it would add more fun to the game.
I can't think of any newer types or anything else at the moment, so I hope this is supported by a few other members.
