ruminations upon the new island
I've been away for a couple of weeks so forgive me if I restate old concerns or speak from obtusity.

The new island cost a lot of money to get to (and more clicks), it is more cumbersome to actually fight monsters (costing more clicks), experience earned is relatively less (costing more clicks to level), and you recieve items with unknown uses which corresponds to less money earned overall. Why go? Are the supposed rewards that amazing to put yourself behind your fellow Larkinites who are hustling in the real world (i.e. Larkinor)? I can sort of see it if you've met your goals for a level and have some extra clicks, but not otherwise. Please convince me one way or another--intelligently.

oh good. well thats alright. Ill be there at christmas guys so see you not so soon
There are several million monsters on the island. Rest assured the top players will leave ya some to kill :p
Every square of TA has hundreds of thousands of monsters. To clear the island will be a
very
long time. Don't worry about getting there and no monsters.
Does that mean that lower levels will not be able to get them. If each conquest monster gives 1 credit and you guys finish before we lower levels get there then we arent going to get them are we? or is the credits system permamently on TA?? you may not know but i definately dont.
Thank you for your font of information regarding credits and subtatoos. Now--how many credits for a tatoo? Just kidding.
Yes Negod, you can decide which monsters you want to fight. If you don’t want to fight run away :p.

Also, it is not true that you will be easy to get a subtatoo if you don’t participate in the fighting. You need to kill monsters on TA to buy a subtatoo from the supply tent. Goods sold at the tent cannot be purchased with mere silvers. You will need credits to purchase items in the tent. The only way to get credits is to kill monsters on TA; you get one credit for every monster that you kill. You don’t have to be one of the first to get the credits, but you will have to do some fighting on TA if you want credits to spend at the tent. Since chars will need the credits, they may as well come over to TA sooner rather than later and do some fighting. That way we can all have subtatoos faster ;).

I didn't say they were random, just that you can't decide which ones to fight or not.
It's not true that the monsters that attack you on TA are completely random and not based on level. They are based on level, rank, etc; there just aren't very many below level 30 or so.
You know, if you don't see a point in going to the new island, no one says you have to. Personally, I am at level 41 and 42. These levels are long and boring. I have finished all the missions and I am looking for something different to do. 5 million silver for a new boat is not such a big deal. I have made it into the top 25 in most categories that I judge to be important (like money in the bank, quests completed, and weapon skill). I have 30 to 40 million silver in the bank plus 10 or so million at the market. 5 million silver for the new boat is not such a big deal. Having something new and interesting to do is. I would love to be one of the pioneers on the new island, and all my characters are spending at least half their time working toward the conquest. It makes the game more interesting for me. You (the generic you), however, are playing your own game. You do what is most interesting for you. You may not want to be part of the conquest, but if you keep playing long enough, I'll bet you will want to come the TA when you reach a high enough level that things are becoming a little bit of the same old same old. When you do, you can thank those of use who have participated in the conquest. (Takes a bow.) We will appreciate the thanks, but really--we didn't do it for you, we did it for ourselves. Because that is the game we are playing. See you on TA in a month or so.

My questions are just that-- questions. My high level mage/digger needs to stay on larkinor to dig and make weapons, armor, etcetera, but everyone else is on the slow boat, worrying about scurvy and malaria, all in the name of global expansion for the motherland. I guess I just want things to be a little more achievable and less detrimental. Hard work and no play makes something something something...
Also to point out: there are currently 72 players whom have attended the island.

It is very costly (over 6 million silvers) so it will take a while before the anyone finishes .. we need all the help we can get :p looks like Veriac is doing an excellent job :)

Are you convinced yet ?:D :p
That is correct.

BUT -- what if many others think like you? "I'll let these hard workers waste their clicks for 1 item and to clear the island for nothing while I sat back and laugh."

Less people working on the island = longer time to travel and expand the island

It should be made into a team effort so it gets done. You see everyone waiting for the new island to come out then you [not you but people in general (no offense)] want to sit back. Sooner we finish the sooner we'll (most likely) have more missions, (maybe) more imp's mushrooms, more wonderflasks.

Atleast complete 100 monsters to get a merit :p I have no idea what it does but it's extra in the info page :D
I just reread the "news" on the new island. It doesn't seem to deny anyone from getting a subtattoo-effort or not-so why not just wait until the tents are up and go over and purschase one with the huge amount of money I will make on Larkinor while the other saps are clearing the island? Or, is it implied that ONLY credits built from defeating monsters will be considered legal tender? If that is the case, how many monsters does a character need to put down to earn enough? I'm sure that answer is not out there but with the proliferation of high level monsters on the new island, and no control of which you run into, a character(level 30-40 or so) could spend a weeks clicks killing less than 500 monsters, making little money and getting little experience. True? Or Not?
Here's some convincing if you're a mage.

Clear a block, build a building. Get a tent, buy a subtattoo. Get a sbtatto, carry a mansatchel and miracle satchel at the same time ;)
