Hi X-Q-X,
Internet connections don't work like a direct phone line between two houses. Even though FlyOrDie's server may be located not too far away from you, your connection doesn't travel straight from your computer to FlyOrDie's server in one single leap.
Instead, every time you click something on this site, your data travels through a massive chain of multiple servers and routers, so-called "nodes".
A slowdown or packet loss can happen anywhere along that path.
While some of these external routing issues are out of your/FlyOrDie's control, the problem could also be originating right at the start of the path. Here are a few things you can try yourself to improve your connection:
- Close background programs: Some applications can quietly hog your bandwidth and cause massive lag spikes while you play.
- Restart your router or cable modem:
- Connect your PC with a LAN cable (ethernet cable): Wi-Fi signals are highly prone to interference from walls, microwaves, and neighbouring networks. A direct cable connection eliminates these wireless drops completely and provides the most stable connection for gaming.
- Clear your browser's cache: Over time, accumulated temporary files in your browser can corrupt or clash with the website's data, causing the site to stutter or respond slowly. Clearing it gives your browser a fresh start.
