Yep. I suggest you make a digger and just dump all your points into luck; for a digger with 100~ luck, 1.125M silvers is about two trips worth of stuff (and about 300 clicks).
You will have to buy a new one the same way you bought the original one. Expensive lesson learned - be really careful with it!
It can be equipped or lost on death (if uninsured), the least obvious scenario is you throwing it out on accident when you were getting rid of clutter.
