 Read Chess Rules...

Using a computer to decide your moves in a board game on FlyOrDie is allowed.
FlyOrDie members have the right to know if they are playing against a computer. Therefore FlyOrDie uses a system to detect suspected program use, which will be indicated on the concerned players' info screen with a small icon.

That's okay if he uses a program.

Next time bud read the rules!!!
Hi all,

It is surely commendable that FoD introduced a "system" that monitors a probable use of chess programs. Surely it would be interesting to hear some thoughts on how was that thing implemented. Anyone having some ideas please bring them on.

However, I don't think that this practice should be viewed as acceptable or even encouraged. To say that users have the "right" to use programs in my opinion sends a wrong message from an ethical, philosophical and even commercial point of view. Not wanting to be taken as a mere theoretical critic, my proposal is that the icon in question should be visible on the main game window, perhaps in the same position as the one indicating a subscriber. That way the users would be immediately spotted which aould allow instant recognition and (I hope) some isolation.

Thank you.

What about the players who get the computer symbol but don't use computers? Personally, I suspect that program users are much rarer than most realise. Speaking as one who has a "player might use computer" notice attached to his account even though I've never used a computer on Fly or Die, I find the whole thing a bit annoying.
