I admire the time and effort you put into getting that up and running, but how much time and effort did you put into coming up with a plan or something unique that would compel people to visit, join and participate?

Although there will be exceptions to the following statement, the number of exceptions is becoming smaller each year.  The amount of thought and work required to make a successful new website is in direct relation to the size of the internet.
