Chhec to see if your number of games played goes up, but not the number of qualifying results.
If
that is the case then FoD is working, but you are not getting the points. I always thought that was the way it worked anyway. If none of the numbers change, then listen to Veriac.
yes our number of games do show thisis weird how can this b weare on same IP ;s this wierd as heck doncha find ???
I doubt many people play on the same IP, so I would assume FoD had to program it to make no points exchange from the same IP. Maybe they just havn't checked it in a while...?
You might find that the matching IP doesn't have anything to do with it. A lot of people have a matching IP with providers like AOL. The system obviously takes the cookie into consideration. That you both play on separate PC's it means you each have your own cookie, just like all the shared IP players from AOL would. Also most mods on the site know you 2 and so when they see any sort of match between you they know you live in the same household and so take no action against you. Try playing each other on the same PC if you really want to know, but don't be surprised if you get done for it.
dave we are on cable not with aol ... we got cable net so its only 1 ip i was told there might b a bug in the system and we aint the only ppl tht its happening too.. not saying who sry

>A lot of people have a matching IP with providers like AOL.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? THIS DISCUSSION HAS BEEN HAD BEFORE, AOL CANNOT ASSIGN AN IP ADDRESS TO 2 SEPERATE COMPUTERS.
The only way this would work is if the clients are set up as an internal network within the same subnet, and they are not. So if 2 computers had the same IP address, how would other servers know who to send data to? It is not possible, so it doesn't happen.
THIS IS NOT A NEGOTIABLE ANSWER 2OF3, YOU GOT IT WRONG BEFORE AND YOU ARE WRONG NOW X-(
Morning Beppe, when someone uses AOL they have to have the AOL software to be able to do it. Maybe this never occurred to you but could it maybe have another form of identification for the users as well as the IP within the software? I have been in an FOD room at the same time as players that have reported league games on the league within 2 mins of each other and they were both online the whole time. Both had the same IP address from AOL, neither went offline in that time and I know for a fact that they are different people from different cities in the UK and they weren't visiting each other, how do you explain that?
Here you go Beppe, a little information to prove my point. All of these players have a STATIC IP, that means, as you know, it is 1 that doesn't change each time they log onto their provider. They all had the same IP from NTL, at the same time. Scunnymadandy Derbycounty Re-animation Kris_41 Nathan Respect Da Champ Kelleyboy You can't tell me that none of them was online at the same time as any of the others or that they are all the same person.....I have seen them play together. Now please explain how that works. FOD doesn't always identify a player with IP, it identifies them with the cookie. Why isn't it possible for providers to do that?
The ONLY way you could be right is if AOL assign each computer a LAN address via their connection. In the case of your NTL league conflicts, if you recall there was a (now deleted) topic about two users thinking that one had been banned because they shared an IP - checks with the two after your replies showed that this WAS NOT THE CASE - each had an individual IP address. If you check the league IP log against the actual PCs (use IPCONFIG in a command window), the number should be different - you are likely to be displaying a server of some kind. If you want to check if AOL are different you'd need something to identify any transmission, such as an email header or league log - and also have the person check their local IP address. If they are the same, then YOU ARE WRONG. I would be interested to know, but I don't know anyone on AOL. Any volunteers? FoD contacts your computer by IP address, but identifies you by cookies,
Oh, and in the meantime stop giving this advice out, because it is not how the internet works.
RIGHT... AOL uses proxy caching servers to speed things up, if you look up your log IPs it is likely to be this. They have also been known to use dynamic router addresses for viewing web pages. It appears that I am correct, dig a little with Google and you'll find out how it all works...
well i know for a fact tht devil and i got the same ip cuz u can ask JAMEZ from 3db our ips are the SAME tyvm so dave its not our provider we aint withaol we are on CABLE net sheesh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is it with you angel....having trouble understanding english? This is from my 1st post... "You might find that the matching IP doesn't have anything to do with it. A lot of people have a matching IP with providers like AOL. The system obviously takes the cookie into consideration. That you both play on separate PC's it means you each have your own cookie, just like all the shared IP players from AOL would."
dave i understand but it iant only me tht is having this prob ..... other ppl also and weve paled fod games b4 n points never changed n now they DO:s
Hmm my post didnt post. Angel here is what dave said. Maybe FOD is ignoring your IP's and looking at other indicators such as cookies. 2 diffrent computers could meen 2 diffrent cookies. FlyOrFie might see cookie345 is playing cookie564 and then awards you points because you infact are diffrent people. Snipe
Thankyou Snipe, maybe I should write as simple english as possible in future...some people don't seem to understand normal english.
well dev tried playing 2 nics on same pc and still exchanged points .. now how do you explain tht 1 ? .. and i was told from Veriac not to worry abt it
Then I conclude FOD is screwed up. But from pearsonal experiance I know cheating is not something Devil wants to be associated with. Snipe
dave is the 1 tht said to try tht and he did and dev aint no cheater u know tht snipe
Beepe m8 care to explain how the net works to me then , cuz i just wen into 8 bl on my pc on the pc version and on the browser on another nic and i still exchanged pnts. how is that possible Care to explain that one m8?
Ok Beppe, I was mistaken. I see now that the IP matches I have seen are from proxy servers, obviously used by AOL, NTL and several other providers. This is where I have the matching IP addresses from in the league logs. As I said in my earlier post the provider has their own way of identifying each PC....in this case a unique IP. I didn't know how proxy servers worked before, I was just stating what I have seen happen. You were right NP there. I don't believe everything people write in internet forums.....even you have been wrong in the past although your info is usually correct. Devil, do you really think it was wise to admit that you played with 2 nicks on the same PC and exchanged points or are FOD rules about that only for other people?
dave m8 wen i played against myself i informed a mod and asked him to watch the gm to c if points exchanged i only did it to prove a point that somthing is wrong with fod .point sharing by to nics using same pc shouldnt happen i even ss's it and am sending in to fod support
Who actually told you that when 1 person plays with more than 1 nick on the same PC that points don't get awarded? That has always happened, thats how most of the cheats on here get their crown/high ratings and they almost always get reset for it. Anybody telling you that points don't get awarded or that you can't get points from playing someone on the same IP as you, be it a shared connection like yours or a proxy server is talking rubbish. FOD has always been this way. If it wasn't then there wouldn't be anyone cheating their ratings up by doing it, and we know there are a lot that do.....
Well lets test this new theory out. Off to League Room 1 I go. It was a hard fought battle with neither the Web Version or the PC Version shooting very well. and.......... Snipe succefully banked 4 points off XXSNIPERXX. Thats interesting. Me thinks a mod should delete this post before more catch on. Snipe
>Ok Beppe, I was mistaken. Credit to you though, you knew that I hadn't proved what I was saying conclusively and pushed me to find an explanation. If you are gonna argue, it's good to have a reason for it :p

FoD has NEVER been this way. No points are exchanged when on same IP, except maybe now... People cheat by getting someone else to go on their other nick, and then giving them wins, or vice versa.
ty i knew i was right dev n i are on same ip we NEVER exchanged points b4 but now we do now thts weird but Veriac said not to worry
