Hi guys I'm relatively new to FoD but I reckon I'm now officially adicted! Me and my friend were wondering how the rating system works and discussing ideas, then I found the explanation under 'help'. I studied A level maths but trying to understand the system is like trying to understand the theory of relativity! Can anyone explain in layman's terms how your rating is decided? Does your final rating depend at all on how much you beat your opponent by? Thanks guys, hope someone can shed some light on this!

no it doesnt, it depends on the rating difference between the 2 opponents, if ur opponent is much higher than you, if thy are much lower then u will gain less for a win, and lose more for a loss and vice versa, if someone is roughly the same rating as you, then u will gain. lose 16 points, its tht simple :p
he said he spent time working out how the FORMULA worked, not how the ratings changed. so get it right UK
