the net is for catching monsters. but catching monsters continues to have no purpose, so for now, sell all your nets, they are worthless.

Not totally true.... nets are also required when you buy or upgrade your boat.

Also, I'm guessing you're probably nowhere near TA. But if you

 get there, never catch monsters or I heard the other players will kill you.

From what I have been told, anyone who catches Larkinor monsters and brings them to TA will be targeted for killing, robbing, stealing, and any other bad things that can be imagined, on the grounds that TA already has too many monsters and no one should bring more.  

If you have insurance, and you're killed while you have a trapped monster, what happens?

Oooh, never thought about that before.  Try it and see.
