Use the practice room. For defense... Never sit in one spot. Keep your tank moving. Use short unconsistent moves.
Try and keep your attacker off balance.

 Hey nice of you to help NYJ. It is helpfull to be able to use all of your weapons available. If your in a tough fight you will need all of them,lol.
