Moderators Age
Hi, i've spoken to many Moderators about this and i've been told same by each and every one. Is it possible that the age limit on the Moderator application could be lowered to 16. I think there is a lot of players on FOD that are around 16 like myself and they out number the number of adults sometimes. I am not 16 yet, but will be in a 2 months and would like to apply for the Moderator status. Just a suggestion! :D
I have no idea what the age statistics are for visitors to FlyOrDie but even asssuming that the 16 and under crowd is the predominant age group doesn't necessarily make it a good idea to allow 16 year old moderators.

To make a comparison... one wouldn't want the crazies running the asylum just because they outnumber the attendants. ;-)
An analogy between "crazies" and the good people of FlyOrDie....Interesting.

Very True.
Im not saying that there has to be a load of 'Underage' Mods, but i thought it would be a good idea for the good users of FOD that are 16 and above to have the chance to at least apply for the moderation of FOD.
You can apply if you under 16.

FOD may not read it but u can still apply.
Maybe, but you still know what i'm trying to get across, Under 21's should be at least considered...(well i think so anyway)
You want to be a moderator why ? You like giving up all your spare time and recieving nothing but abuse because of it ? Great ! Where do I sign up ?
No, i want to be a moderator to stop all the abuse in FOD. This was only a suggestion and wasnt ment to be a full blown argument lol
making your first point i have come to a conclusion:

Don u must be a mod as you dont go out.

ahh unlucky not your fault :p
Stezz, shh for a while. Your getting most topics deleted...

inc. one I had.

Can anyone tell me exactly the difference between Verification and Validation?

I need it for some computing questions and no stupid answers please.
euan be quiet its don cussing every1
Get off the whole "friends" bit, I'm happy with my social life Stezz. I hope you are one day too. As for Euan, this is not technical but I see verification as like checking while validation is more Ughhhh I don't know. It's hard to describe. Sawry.
i do have friends and a life
you just say it to me because you must know i do amd maybe jelous?? lol
I know they are similar but it's hard to describe the difference.

I think that verification does not let anything go on if there's an error and it clearly states what the error is. Validation is, errr, I really need bubbbab or Ver or possibly the smartest guy ever...

Stezz (please help man!)

P.S It's not really really important but I would still like to know. :p?
and Stezz, if it's not Don, it's snipe or a moderator. Learn to shh. You got my birthday topic deleted. One way to get into my bad books because I loved that topic.

FlyOrDie...

It was my two year anniversary with yas yesterday and I want to say a big thank you for having me here :p?

Peace out monkeys.
That’s a good question Euan.

Can anyone tell me exactly the difference between Verification and Validation?

In my opinion Validation is making something valid or correct where as Verification is making sure something already is correct or valid.

If that makes any sense to you. :p

P.S. I haven’t been deleting or causing the deletion of any topic to my knowledge.
I found something about them but it never really explained it very well. It's not easy to understand and it's not very easy to write the difference down on paper.

There is still a bit more to it, or so says it says on this handout I printed off.

Poek, 2 pages left. One soon :p? Almost goodnight!
Stezz is mainly to blame for the Topic deletions (is this a word?). His arguement with you about the 16 year olds driving in America is the reason I mentioned you.
honestly moderators should be
all different ages
...but old enough to be an adult and make adult descions.not saying anything rude or whatever but some people dont know what the
generation of slang
is.younger people are finding differant words to use for bad ones, that may offened younger/older people.older mods know alot of things from their era so its
50/50
!

in other words having "
older and younger
" mods are the best!:p:)
Verification vs Validation

validation

n 1: the act of finding or testing the truth of something

verification

n : additional proof that something that was believed is true;

Very similar meanings to these two words as you can see.
Verification

To prove that something exists,or is true,Or to make sure something is correct..
Validation

Based on truth or reason, able to be accepted

Say you told me you had 1000 points in pool :p.. I would ask you for Verification of this..to prove this is correct..You bring me this proof..I would then have Validation that this is true

Also,

Verification is done by a human operator. Usually, the human operator must input data twice and to go on, both inputed data must match.

Validation is done by computer software. Usually it checks to see if the inputed data is accurate or 'sensible'.

That is what I was told today.
Stezz can't handle real dialogue. Heres me with a clearer definition with a clearer head. Verification is like checking and validating is checking and analysing AGAINST something. Still not clear but its in my head somewhere.
Verification is the act of testing a hypothesis to see if it is true.

Validation is accepting the statement as being true.

It is important to note that untrue statements can be validated, but not verified.
