how do u Re-build a pc (wipeing it down to dos and start ova)
Hi...my pc keeps jaming up and has got reli slow..it is a gud pc i onli got it in october brand new and its already playing up...dose anyone out there no how 2 totaly wipe it so its got nothing but dos on and then rebuld it..PLEAAAASE help sumbody..thanku...Ben
Delete cookies/ temp internet files/ try disc defrag. If you noticed the probs after a certain date try to use system restore to earlier date. If all fails you could always try to restore from 'restore cd', a bit drastic but it will work, make sure that you save any data you wish to keep before doing this though. Good luck with it all, hope you get your pc sorted out soon.
maybe if u have the master cd's, u get someone to remaster your pc if you dont know how to and maybe if they can delete and remake the primary partition for you that would help incase any viruses got into there. somewhere NAV dont reach.
There are lots of way to "wipe" your PC, but most are considered VERY unwise.

IF you post the specifications, manufacturer (i.e. Dell Tiny,HP, whatever), the Operating system in use,and a more detailed description of the problem, then i can give you more detailed help.

In the meantime however, you can speed up things a little by doing the following:

1 - Delete all your temporary files
2 - Delete all your cookies

The simplest way to do this is to open up a browser window. Then click on tools, then internet options. YOu will be presented with a series of buttons. CLick on the buttons for "delete cookies", and "delete files".

Also check to see what prgrams you have running all the time. Usually such things as your Firewall and Antivirus can slow down a machine. Also many other prgrams can slow down speeds, such as download Accellerator.

Run a search in google.com for spywareblaster. You should find several prgrams that can be used to sniff out and remove prgrams that tie up your bandwidth in the background.

new in october? you should still have access to support from manufacturer yes??.. look in your documentation for the machine for a support phone number.. and contact them...many times they will prompt you on the phone step by step on troubleshooting....in most cases it's an easy fix...once you find the trouble...
without knowing what brand or what your location is...makes it difficult to steer you in the right direction for support.. however Micro Soft has a list of all PC manufacturers support phone numbers here:

http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx?rdpath=fh
;en-us;oema
or if i have ever had trouble with my comp, i go to www.pcservicecall.co.uk or just phone them up. they are really good and helpful and get straight to fixing it.
Well thankyou very much everyone for all of your help...u r all great...The make of my PC is i-Friend, and i am in north yorkshiere, Ripon...once again thanks for all of your help....before i call anyone up i will do as most of you have sugested and deleat teporary files and cookies and i will try system restore aswell...i have got alot of music saved on here so do u reakon that would b a problem?....with this pc i got a recovery disk....would that be of any help to me or not?....Thankyou for all ao your help and i will try and write full words on here and not shortend because i know it can get very confusing!
I suggest NOT using recovery CD unless you have exhausted all other options.. as this will erase all data or files saved (including all your music) and return your machine to "factory settings" just as it was when you took it out of the box new.
contacting the manufacturer would be my first step..after all.. it's probably still under a warranty of some kind being as new as it is..

good luck with it ;)
thanks...well basicly i wanted to start fresh from wen i got it out of the box...the only thing i would be worried about is the networking...my computer is connected to my dads downstaires through a wireless connection and it cost me £50 to get these people in to get them connected because we couldnt....so the recovery disk sounds great all exept for that

But i will do what ya said and use that as a last resort...Thanks..Ben
i sure hope you get your pc sorted but as a basic rule.......if you dont know how to do it then PLEASE DONT TRY leave it to somone who does

Personaly i leave it to my wife :p
LOL...well im 16 so i dont have a wife but good goin!...its defraging now...yup thanks for all ya help..hope ya enjoy the rest of your christmas holidays...and i will probably be back when this has blown up or something!!...Thanks..Ben
if the networking settings are going to be a problem, then make sure you write down on paper ALL the settings that are currently there for the networking components.

IF you dont, you might end up spending another 50 quid.

In particular, pay close attention to the local IP settings on the machine. You can find this info by typing ipconfig /all from the dos prompt.

Also, you may need to release the ip address before you wipe it, then renew it again afterwards.

the standard winsux help will explain how to release and renew your ip address.

Your dads machine will have the information already set for the networking, so when you wipe your machine, you just need to make sure you put the settings into your machine that will match the ones expected by your dads machine. Depending on how you are networked, this can be either very easy, or a right royal pain in the behind.

yea, sounds very confusing...do u know how far back you can do system restore to?...because this has all hapend in the last few weeks...maybe if i restore to before then, then maybe it will b ok?...o yea i forgot all the settings would still be on my dads...thanks...knowing my luck it will be a royal pain in the behind...Thankyou for your help....Ben
Well thankyou every1...u have been a big help...i have defraged it...and i have system restored it to november 28th and its fine now...thankyou....gr8 tlkin to ya you r all great....c ya around...Happy new year...Ben
i suggest you trade that pc and git a laptop if you have a wire less connection because... you kin bring it to the bathroom and while doing your business, you could play some pool, or tanx, or chess, or just surfing the net :p (just a suggestion, dont do it if u dont have the $$$)
Any luck yet solving the problem with your PC?
