The VIP Medal is awarded to players who take part in Tournaments and place in the top 5 (depending on how many people are in that Tournament).
The top 5 players usually get VIP for a few days. Not very long..however. You need to have two dots on your profile (Two Dice) Minimum to win VIP from Tournaments. VIP is basically a few days additional subscription added onto your account with a different icon. It's nothing special..and unless you win Tournaments regularly it's difficult to keep a hold of it.
