you basically have to quit after your first loss or the snowball effect will happen. in one day i have gone from 0 to level 300 and then the next day back to 0

Well maybe that is because the game cheats sometimes. I found out that I blocked the 7 for my opponent who had two stones on the 13. He threw a 6 anhd a 4. According to the rules he had to bring one stone from 13 to 3 then, leaving the other in the open. Instead he put one stone from 6 to 2 and passed for the 6. But the rules are that if you can play all eyes, you have to do so. 

No fun in Backgammon if people can win by bending the rules.
