Great simulation! - some suggestions
Finally a really good curling game online :D

Brilliant for challenging other players, or the random talent out there.

The physics of the game are quite good, and I love the fact that the ice curls different some places and that hitting rocks not always are on broom.

What I take issue whit is basically only the ranking system. - The way players can leave after whatever end they like and gain/avoid losing points for it. Curling does not usually get played over one end, and getting last rock in that end is an enourmous advantage.

Two basics ways to solve this, from the top of my mind:
1. Not letting taking 1 with last rock make you gain points. Blanking has always been better than taking a 1 in curling, preserving last rock to take 2 or 3 in the next end.

2. Applying the possibility to challange for a set number of ends. Of course with only options being even numbers 2-4-6-8 or 10 ends. Curling is about winning games, not ends - and this would help that. This way ranking points can be given to the winner of the game, not the end.

Would be nice with some feed back on these suggestions.

Completelly agree.
It could be great to have defined minimal play lenght as 2 ends and make penalties (-points) for rating if game leaved earlyer.
Thanks for your feedback.
While I agree that the current system is not perfect, you should also take it into consideration, that it is supposed to be a casual online game, not a serious competitive event.
The main purpose of the rating system, is to give the possibility of our players to find opponents with similar skills.
The current system does a pretty good help in this, as sometimes you get the hammer, sometimes your opponent does. So it is more or less square at the end.

It would also not help to play at least 2 ends, as you can then blank the first with the hammer, and then do what you can in the 2nd (so basically the same as if you play only one end).

It is also not the best to allow only 8 or 10 enders, as a game would last a couple of hours then, which is not something all players are looking for.

I am pretty sure that if you wish to play longer games, you can find some opponents for this ( I have already played some 10 enders). Get to know each other, look at the other player's info, which shows if he/she plays only one end or more usually.
If your opponent has to leave after one or two ends, just simply look for another ;)

OP
could possibly do special rooms for 5 enders,10 enders, etc? and players who prefer to play less than 5 ends could play in room 1 or 2
One of biggest problems is, as example if I have hammer and already stone, as a point and with last rock it is possible to get some more 1,2 or whatever additional points opponenet is just leaving the game so instead of loosing more he loose just 1.
So if you leve game early you play unfairly so get some consequences ;)
Points taken.

I do search out players I know or trust and play games with them. To make it about winning the game we agree to have the loser of the game over 6/8 ends give up a score of 6 or more in the following end - impacting our rates. A great way to play curling as it's played in real events, though impossible to do with randoms or non-english speaking opponents. I just think it would be great to somehow have a way of playing a game of curling, not ends - and have the winner of the game gain rate.

I still think giving rating points for scoring a one with the hammer is bad for the game. In normal circumstances I would be happy to force the one, but now I find my self forced to yepordise a big score to possibly steal in the end. Likewise with the hammer, you can merely guard your sole rock on the four foot - or just knock everything out to secure the one.

I think giving rating as given in skins games could be a better way of doing it - teams only get points for cashing a 2 or making the steal.

btw - some of the ads that were just implemented gives me a terrible lag. Especially the blinking red/yellow/orange one stating I'm the 999,999th visitor... Any way that particular ad could be removed? I do know having ads is what makes the site go around (I visit some of them to contribute;) ) - but just this particular one is both annoying and gives me a terrible lag...

Still - the game is great. Rock and roll.

when you see an advertisement which makes you lag, click on it,copy the URL of it and send it to support@flyordie.com - with explanation,of course :p
Will do - thank you :)

I liked you're suggestion btw.

You should try and get rid of the follow through action on the rocks.
Is there any way to make curl less to the sides. The ice seems rather peaked.
You should be able to choose which rock you sweep. Maybe toggle from rock to rock using the tab key. Other than that. It is the best curling simulator I have ever seen. I am hooked.
I agree with you on the sweeping. You should be able to sweep your opponants rock after you hit it. Behind the T, of course.
Without the changing the game directly if you were able to provide greater detail under the 'Info" feature which would supply a longer history for a given player.

Let their record of matches speak for themselves, with asterisks (Red) when a match was vacated prior to Last Rock.
/quote/ It would also not help to play at least 2 ends, as you can then blank the first with the hammer, and then do what you can in the 2nd (so basically the same as if you play only one end). /quote end/

Pardon me for asking, mod. But have you actually watched curling games? A game tied at 9th end, I can assure you is -not- 'basically the same' as there only being one end left. Preventing a blank isn't the hardest of things... Preventing the deuce is what's difficoult. Forcing the one is good. Steal is great. Blank is not happening.

No offense :D

Just think after making this great simulation - the best around - I'm saddened that you can't run the full mile and fix the small issues to make it not great, but extraordinary.

With regards.
Snella.
I'll bump this. Only thread with an operator actually answering. Alot of the same suggestions comes up time and time again, but for some reason obviously aren't taken notice of.

And btw, how about some more interesting stats on our info pages. Like hammer efficiancy, force/steal efficiancy, average noumber of ends played, scores for/against, etc.

PS. I'm a paying subscriber, and with my subscription soon running out - I'd like to see someone actually taking notice before I spend more money on this site!
The suggestions that make some sense are actually taken notice of.
In fact some of those are already under development, but I cannot give you any specific date when they will be completed.

OP
Great! Very comforting to know things are still under development.

Feel free to give specifics on what excactly these developments are. I for one would love to give my thoughts and feedback, as I'm sure others who play this at a weekly basis do too.
I am a huge fan of curling and am really glad I found this game. Everything about it is so close to the real thing. I just wanted to say thank you for creating it...whoever you are.
If I had to point out one thing that perhaps could be improved upon, and not take hours to re-write (programming)...I would suggest making the power button a little slower than 1 second, for reaction time.
The older you are, the less reflexes you have...and mine aren't as fast any more. LOL.

Thanks.
