i know how, but i won't spoil it for others quite yet.  it's very simple, and may or may not have to do with roman numerals (depending on how you look at it... now i may have thrown some people off :p)

it's harder to argue that 17-4=1 than it is to argue that 11+2=1... or for that matter that 10+3=1 or 9+4=1.  but in a way, 17-4 does kind of equal 1.

anyway, i think a little over 3 days is long enough to torture people who still don't know.  if the mod who gets to approve or reject this post disagrees, you could just delete this paragraph to avoid the spoiler.  but the answer is based on a clock.

5 o'clock equals 1700 hours so 1700 hours equals 17

5 minus 4 equals 1 :p
