So, you want to do more than learn how to play the game that takes 'A minute to learn and a lifetime to master'? Then you're like me when you watch the more advanced players, or even the intermediate players, who's Go seem like one shockingly perfect move after another... the depth is astounding and you wish you had more time to replay the sequences of moves made, or that you knew why certain moves were made when they were. Many minds make learning Go work. If you really want to learn Go, you could get a teacher, but you still need to play against a variety of opponents and knowing how others are thinking about games can help you learn. What I have in mind is a group of Go players interested in analyzing games, discussing tactics and strategies, submitting Go puzzles, recording games, and forming leagues. There has even been talk of perhaps acquiring a teacher for the group... but that is something we would need to discuss. I am not sure on the 'where' of this idea; Yahoo groups? Gaia Online? Just sticking to email? I would myself prefer a site where there could be chat, posting of game images, room to store puzzles and game logs, and a messaging system which would make this club not rely on sharing of emails (something some of us would like to avoid). I would welcome any advice, contributions of ideas, or like-spirited replies. Really, there are so many really basic tactics and reoccurring positions that would improve lots of peoples games, and it can be hard to learn Go at the pace people play at in the FlyorDie Go game room. Why not give me a shout, and see what we could learn when we put our minds together?
