Why is that some people can`t finish the game when they realize defeat is imminent?

It is something that frequently happens to me and now I`m sick of it. I don`t know how to adress this problem correctly. So without further ado, I`ll present a list of people that
give up
.

ok my brother =an moderator i ask him tho block them ok
beat you all: There is no need telling your brother because using the 'give up' or 'offer draw' are valid options available to the user and thus is not a violation to the rules. I don`t have any data that suggest cheating.

Still, it is very annoying when people leave, especially mid-to-end game.
o ok but he stil can do something
It's just a waste of time if people don't give up
u r very stupid

if defeat is imminent, the is no sense i playing, dont think so?
i am no mod here but i can complain about cheaters but i wont i can complain about abuse but i wont i can complain about oh get over it i have people leave games when i play and i have left people in a game to

if it looks like your going to lose a game and you dont want to finnish it then so what if it anoys ones mind so much when a player leaves you look at your points they leave you win you leave you lose
i have had to leave games becoz my children running a muck on me it is the same as running out of time in a game
at the end of the day it is only a game you are not playing for money you are only playing for points

the only thing i dont agree with is connection lose if you lose conection in a game you lose points

you should all look at playing the games as relaxtion not a pub fight with mods that are only doing what they are asked to do by the fod site owners

the world is full of fair and unfair things and if loseing a player in a game seems unfair to you then block the player or write the name down on a papper for your self tyo look at and see if he or she is on your list of do not play again

NOW THAT SOUNDS FAIR lol
I agree about the comment of not losing points if the server connection is broken. Yesterday, I went from "Intermediate" to "Novice" due to the server keeping on dropping my connection. Of course, if someone just signs off because they are losing, that is not fair, so perhaps there is no way to keep from losing points due to server problems?

Also, today I lost points because when I was challenged to a game, the other person did not appear on the game board. So, I had to quit the game, and lose my points. There was no other way to get out of the game... the clock started, but no opponent was there.

Yes, mid-game quitters are annoying, but there's not much you can do. Besides, if it is obvious that I am going to win, then I don't mind not wasting additional time with the other player. I usually figure that if I stay in until the end, at least maybe I can learn some new trick.

i dont think you fully understood what i said c911
if someone leaves the game because they are sure they will not win the game it is fair to the person they have left behind i leave games when i am sure i am not going to win i stay sometimes as well
E.G c911 V Dekota
score c911 29
Dekota 12
with 5 moves left and it dont look like the sun is going to shine on my side of the fence i will leave the game as well or even in mid game if the player is very strong and looks like player has prog
what is the differance if i stay in the game and play it out with you knowing you will win and get the points anyway
so if i leave the game you still get points and i have admitted defeat to you

as far as going into a game with a player that has not apeard on your screen i have had the same thing happen to me but i have waited it out and if possible when it has happend taken my turn that way the clock it ticking on there side not mine
in most cases that has happen the player will apear dont forget if he dose not show on your screen and he or she has to open the game and they cant do it once again you grt the points if you have to open then you might be able to open the game with out them on your screen

i would be more worried if the chips arnt on your screen
Hi again. There were chips, either. Just a blank board, and a clock for me, ticking away. No opponent's clock was there.

I think I understand what you are saying about quitters.... I was just saying that I agree with Jason that sometimes it's annoying... people not finishing the game. But, I can't really fault people for leaving if they know they will lose.

And, I sure know about having to leave mid-game to deal w/the kids, etc.! :)
ooops... meant to say "there were NO chips....

(I guess this forum doesn't allow us to edit our posts?)
Another edit...

When I said that it's not fair if someone logs off before a game is over, I meant it would be unfair if they didn't lose the points. Otherwise, if someone was losing, they might just log off to prevent the points loss.

So, it there some way the game could be programmed so that it can tell the difference between someone leaving a game due to dropped server - vs- someone who intengtionally logs off?
LOL its ok c911 your forgiven for getting confused when talking about the game in here im not perfect either i had problems reading back what i said befor i posted it i think we do understand what each other are saying

are you subed c911 or just reg nick
i aske this becoz i have heard ppl saying that as sub you dont incounter so many problems

i know i dont have that many problems in reversi
Thanks for the reply!

cuda911 is a regular nik, not a sub.

I think the problems I am encountering may be due to poor ISP service on my end.
