Is it better to have a shield in your hand to prevent damage or is it better to have a ranged weapon with vampirism and get the first blow in? I am not sure which one to equip. I guess I would only use the ranged once while the shield would be useful every round.

most ppl who use a shield and weapon also use magic so they still ahev a ranged attack if you do not use magic then use ranged and s/s or p/s
