I just thought I'd share this with you becuse I found it in the newspaper and I was like :|, I am not saying Yes to this or No but this is what the newspaper says.
THE dinosaur-cloning fantast of Jurassic Park could become a reality after scientists found possible blood cells and vessels in a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton.
The discovery might open up a possibility of obtaining dinosaur DNA from the 70 million-year-old samples. The idea of such soft tissuepreservation has never been taken seriously. But it formed the basis of Michael Crichton's novel turned Spielberg movie, Jurassic Park, in which scientists resurected dinosaurs from their DNA. The fossil skeleton from the six-ton T-Rex was unearthed in 2003 in Montana. Usually only hard material, such as bones and teeth, is fossilised from animals buried in mud or sand. Soft tissue turns to mineral- leaving a rock like copy of the original. But scientists spotted unusual feautures in the marrow cavity of a thigh bone in the American T-Rex.
Dissolving the mineral deposits with acid left a flexible, stretchy material threaded with what appeared to be transparent and hollow blood vessels. They branched just like real blood vessels and some contained red and brown cell-like structures. Dr Mary Schweitzer, of north Carolina State University, who led the investigative team, told the journal Science : "It was totally Shocking" ;\. "I didn't believe it until we'd done it 17 times." The vessels resembled those from the bones of present-day ostriches, and the cell-like material suggested a link to modern birds.
Further research will establish if the soft tissue is original T-Rex protein or a chemical compound.
U.S expert Dr Lawrence Witmer said: "If we have tissues that are not fossilised, we can potentially extract DNA."
