opponent won't accept or decline
You've played the end, clicked on starting a new end but your opponent -- especially if the score is tied -- won't accept or decline to play and hangs the game up so you can't go to the lobby without looking like a runner and losing points. Is there a way to force a shut down of the game without penalty?
if that happened like you said and it asked you are you sure you want to quit. Then there was a fixed number of ends to be played and you just didn't realize it. That is only time it takes points away for returning to lobby. You may not have set the number of ends but your opponent did.
yeah I don't understand why this guy is complaining
I did cancel and when I clicked the back to the lobby button was asked if I was sure I wanted to quit. When I did quit, it showed me as a runner and I lost points.
If there is a fix amount of ends to be played, then the next one will start automatically after one minute, even if one (or both) of the players does not hit the "I'm ready" button.

If there is not a fixed amount of ends, you can cancel the request to play another end any time, if your opponent does not respond. This means that the match is over, with no penalty points to any of the players.
