Hi folks,
All welcome! To run a successful event I need two teams of 6, but also a number of "alternates" - players who can play if one or more of the six are unavailable; just like the real thing! An alternate can only in place of a player with a higher rating.
For it to be competitive the total rating of the two teams needs to be similar - any "weak" players (like me!) are compensated by stronger team members. Before the summer we had a lot of fun with the Continental Cup where Team-Europe beat Team-NAM in both events, but they were both decided during the final pairs of 10-end skins games which were held simultaneously. I wasn't playing, but I and other team members were watching and busily went from room to room updating those who were playing! A bit like the Ryder Cup of Golf, but the Continental Cup of (Ice) Curling and my online version are fiendishly designed so that the stakes get higher towards the end!
