Being a parent sure has it's ways
You get frustrated alot, but then theres  good days
If you dont know what im talking about 
 Then just let me  explain
Like i do with my kids , over and over again 

Oh kids are good listeners , when they want to be
But they shut off  there ears , when they hear that it's me
Its called selective hearing, well thats what we say
And they can turn it off or on any time of the day

You try to tell them, to pick up there clothes
Well you know how kids are, and the way that one goes
They'll say things like... sure Mom , ill do it right now
Then they'll sneak out of it, some way or some how

There sneaky at times and they think that your dumb
But you say nice try kid. your talkin to Mum
You just cant fool me for one second you brat
And now your getting grounded, for a week cuz of that

Or when you  say come on in kids, its time to have lunch
There outside with there  friends, then they bring in the whole bunch
Well youve made kraft dinner, but only for two
So you stretch it to feed five, what else can you do?

And of course there still hungry, so you serve them ice cream
One says , I want that bowl. Well thats when you  scream
So you say, eat your darn food ,then get the heck out
Before I get pissed and  I start to shout.
.
They gulp it down quick and run out the door
Then you trip on a marble , and land flat on the floor
You crawl  to your couch, yes your in great  pain
Then all of a sudden , God  there inside again

You look at the kids, and there so full of dirt
Your 12 yr old son well , he's wearing a skirt
Your 16 yr olds there and  he's  wearing earings
Oh my God , what joy parenting brings

Oh now comes allowance day.. and this isnt  funny
You give them 5 bux.  they say mom... this isnt money.
Well by this time youve had it,  they didnt even say please
They think that your money , just falls off of trees

So  you throw them a 20 and say get out of my sight
I dont want to see you , for the rest of the night

It gets quiet for  a while , then  you hear the front door
Its your 20 yr old son, he needs help just once more
He says , hello there mom,  how are you today 
Oh i just popped in , cuz i was passing this way

Well you know theres somthin up, when you hear that old line
Cause he wouldnt pop in , if everything was fine
You say oh yeah my son, now thats really funny
I know why your here, you  need some more money

He says im sorry mom , but my cars clunking bad
I say sorry not this time ,  now go try your dad
So he leaves then up tight ,with a pout on his face
And say's no problem dear mother . ill try  a new place

Well of course you feel bad now . you say get back in here
Ill give you some money, that dads saved for  beer
He smiles  at you , then and gives you a kiss
Says mom your the greatest and i love you for this


Kids are the greatest, they do show that they care
But ill never know why, mine wont wear underware
And there music , my God that rap is so bad
It talks about killing and stealing, thats sad
What happened to Zepplin or Motley Crew too
what happened to lyrics, that just say i love you
There frustrating, there annoying, they'll drive you insame
But if i had to start over . i'd sure do it again

Well thats just a few of the things we go thru
But thats just a bit . theres way more to it too
Theres all the love...  and the smiles that you get
And if you ask if i love them , my answers, you bet
I wouldnt change my ways, theres definetly no doubt
Kids will be kids, but loves what its about
