Im very happy to see that since i posted this on the forum i have noticed alot of newer mods on the scene @ FOD.

I agree Chris, maybe they are so strict on the applications this is why there arent new moderators?

I appreciate that they get hunreds, maybe thousands but maybe rather than just responding/replying to the 'winning candidate' maybe they should look at replying to a random bunch telling them 'why they havent been chosen'?  If they have enough time to go through each one 

(which personally i dont believe they do)

 then surely they have the time too reply to a bunch?

I've seen various people on FOD comment on this issue over the years. Sometimes they say "if you apply to be a moderator you may be taken into consideration 

if there's an opening/if we need one

". Now what I don't understand is, if it is the case that they have a sort of queue and look at applications when, for example, a current moderator leaves their position, why is this the case? 

Surely if someone suitable applies to be a mod and they would be accepted if FOD was 'recruiting', then why not just accept their application anyway.

It seems to be that either FOD have some sort of limitation on how many moderators they can have or there just aren't many suitable people applying in which case I can only assume the selection process is insanely difficult/extremely selective :p 

Oh and in terms of forum moderation add Veriac to that list and RalphTheDog who regularly plays Larkinor :)

I forgot too add Jadin & Mervin to the list.
