Why does so many worry about cheating?
I have noticed while learking in this forum, that there's a lot of players who worry about cheating. I would think it is very hard to cheat in five min. blitz game, not to mention the other lower time controls. What kind of cheating is everyone worried about. I wouldn't think it would be the use of an engine, because their games would time out, or their the fastest computer operator in the wild wild west.
Yes it is this "engine using" that everybody is hypertensed about. Say that you have a good engine, say chessmaster 8000 that makes moves exceptionally quick. Or even Crafty or something that also makes quick moves at high levels. These programs take about 2 seconds tops to move so if you have a good computer you can switch windows swiftly and cheat by using the program.

Say that you have a program that makes a move every 3 seconds and your computer is fast enough that you can switch and play moves every 2 seconds. That is 5 seconds per move not mentioning all the time saved on difficult moves.

The maths would go a bit like this...

5 moves average lists up to 12 moves per minute, say in blitz chess you have 5 minutes therefore you may use the program for 60 moves which at that level games would end really fast.

People do not like this because it is "unfair". Also not everybody is fast enough to play in the blitz chess catagory. Where sterotypically more cheaters hide.

I would think all the cheaters would play email chess. The last reply says most people can't play fast enough for blitz. That's my point. Adding the time it takes to mess around with a chess engine would take someone who is extra fast.
Also, If someone takes five seconds to make a move using a chess engine and I'm making a move every three seconds without one, You would loose on time everytime. I have always been told that you have to make a move every three seconds to compete in blitz chess. Inside of one min. if I find myself in a loosing position and will just move pieces arounjd while the cheaters clock runs out. I don't think you can win in blitz chess using an engine.
     I see an "! next to my name,so I must be cheating,right?
As a retired postal master, someone has accused me of cheating,& I find that offensive.
Worse,I don't even get to face my accusers.

I don't have ! next to my name, so I don't have that problem. I just noticed that a lot of folks on this site are crying about cheaters. I also see it on other sites too, but I was surprised to see it related to blitz. I don't think anyone can win a blitz game while playing around with a chess engine.
