My opinion on this is that a breech of rules is a breech of rules. Simply saying "mute the offender" gives no protection to future victims. FlyOrDie has such a problem with bad language for exactly this reason. People know they can swear and they can get away with it.
>Enough

Why not lock the topic then?:|
of course Jamez didnt start the argument, i see him daily on fod and know him well he wouldnt do that, Jamez is very polite
Watch me all you want nextball rules are rules and if I break them I am subject to the consequences as is anybody here. I'm not here to argue or start a spit spat I'm here pointing out facts about this site that have been alive and well even before I joined, it's the same complaint new day.
Ooo, I know I shouldn't take the bait but how can you have a 'Slip of the tongue' when you have to actually type the word (or in this case, the majority of the word) into the keyboard?:|
That's an interesting "slip of the tongue" tiger....

Oh and if you want us to believe Jamez began the abuse then provide us with a screenshot otherwise it's your word against his (much more eloquent and polite) word and evidence. ;)

EASY TIGER2 it's so EASY to say others start;)
listen people it was as lip o the tngue and if jamez would think about wat he said to me during the game he would think twice i new he wasnt 12 and he did coz the language he used in the game a 12 yr old wouldnt no i only apologise to other users not jmez as he no,s the reasons why.
also i think tryin to wind people up to gain an advantage in a game is wrong i am an honest player and always have been i just dont do the screenshot thing but now i may start
my regards to u all tony
He was simply asking for a
Wonka Bar
;)
lol peter i dont think he was saying winker
ok - i will remember that watching your behaviour in future
I got a demerit for saying fluker :D

but well within intent to filter out bad language, so I didn't argue it (because I'm a big boy :D) rules are rules no exception...by the way did YOU read the rules?

3.2 Offending a nick with vulgar language.
3.6 Being abusive by profanity or harassing.
3.8 Referring to body parts or sexuality.
3.15 Harassing, threatening, embarrassing, or doing anything else to another member or guest that is unwanted.

I think these few work. ;)
First of all... I am glad to see that all of you are interested in this issue. This is exactly what the forum is meant to be.

I assume you all know the rules, did read them very accurately and
never
ever used a word in the chat which was against the rules so far...

I also assume you all are old enough to know how to use the mute button...

But what do you think if a player is pushing for another player to be punished instead using the mute button? For what reason? Just to get the satisfaction to see someone getting a demerit? Remember - you could be the next one who's comment is sent in as a ss... so better avoid typing something like flker, lser, chter, lcker etc.

Finally - it was my decision and there is not the slightest reason to discuss about it. Next time it could be a ss showing
YOUR
comment which will be sent in... and i think you do not want to be punished for almost "nothing" - do you?

Producing an argument that "
i could have been a 12 year old child
" only approves, that the real reason to expect any punishment is a very other one but using vulgar language or profanity!

Be sure that every moderator can evaluate if a punishment is indicated - and no one is "lax" - but fair!

Have fun! (and use the mute button)

nextball
This is why i only ask FOD Wizard, he can ban people for a single word ;)

Mods like streamline, nextball are too lax, that's why u see many people with demerit in 8 ball and noone in snooker light :|
I don't want this to get too much about nextball. Like oooOOO0OOOooo said (love ya 2nd tip mate! :p): everytime a mod bans, kicks or demerits an abusive user, then they are doing a good job. This issue wouldn't have been brought up if Easy Tiger had just kept quiet, so I don't want to shift the blame to nextball.
We just need to apply a bit of strictness and consistancy which probably needs to come from the very top. It's hard enough for moderators to do their job but when they have to interpret the rules in their own way (which seems to be the case) then these problems invariably occur.
We need more black and white, we have too much grey.
Thanks for your comments people.
hmm seems like mod aint doin his/her job properly there? was quite a clear breech of rules and atleast a demerit should have been awarded if not a ban for profanity. Ive seen ppl get demerits for less than that and to say "i dont punish for single words" is wrong. Hope fod sort this out.

Did you see any other mods about this before you posted the topic m8, I think it show's the person's character and true personality when they swear and abuse someone online (faceless cowards), maybe few of these offenders are adults who dont mind talking like this infront of their own kids or anyone elses.
Jamez m8 your right to feel frustrated, I was abused in the lobby in a private message, 'A' mod there told me he couldnt give punishment to this person because it was in a private message. When you mute someone like this, these sad sad people who must have loads of time on their hands just make another name then harrass you even more.
If any mod who has banned demerited or booted at least one of these trouble causers, then they do a good job... maybe not 100% (but no ones perfect m8).
Theres plenty of good people here who treat the game and the players with the respect it deserves.

   Couple of tips m8......

    1. I always imagine these people who say bad things are constantly saying it to themselves in their head, infact what he called you, he knows he's really saying it to himself again.

    2. I always imagine these people to talk in a very funny high pitch voice.

....But your right Jamez, nothing wrong in having manners and morals and keeping the site family friendly..

........ Respect ;)
I agree with Jamez, this is ridiculous that someone can get away with typing these things. Also as Jamez said what if he was younger, is this the reputation FoD wants to have? This is why I quit playing here, aside from the few good mods there is a chunk of them that don't do their job properly (it is your responsibility).
Some mods have different ways on dealing with things. They don't all apply the same style as each other as some words they believe are offensive and some think that one swear word can be given a warning.

But there is no use in posting it here, mods will do nothing but tell you to email it to them...:|
Maybe he/she was saying "winker".
