Hi, i have a question regarding the rule convention for 9 ball games. Is it kind of an unwritten law not hit the 9ball by combination into a pocket? Recently I played against a guy who was angry about me doing that, but I'm not sure if he was right because he was playing like an idiot. And if so, are these kind of combos only not allowed after a foul and ball in the hand or always? Thanks for your help, Nils

What you have there is an example of someone crying over a perfectly acceptable part of the game, most probably because they wanted to keep their points. Don't worry about it :)
It's generally frowned upon when you combo the 9 ball with a slop shot, if it's a skilled shot I'm all for it, and no there is no rule against comboing the 9 ball anytime during a game. I don't play 9 ball because of this reason, I wish it was required to be a called shot but able to be played no matter which ball your on. Your in the clear with your play, just like I said though most people frown upon a slopped shot.
