For ordinary methods of building weapon skills, the maximum skill level is (Dex * 1.5).  For training them at the fort it's less.

Anything with negative weight can't be stolen.

Just some thoughts, now that I'm back for a while:

If it's all that important to populate the island with monsters, then we should be able to preserve the "front lines" theory and just release them on the entrance square by the port.  Since it's not all that important to go north right now, we can always go west from the square that's northeast of the port later, and not have to use the port square as a front line again.

But I don't vote for starting monstology yet, because I'm not convinced that it's necessary.

Just don't capture any yet.  The monstology toplist should give you a clue - nobody's doing it at all except a few people who have caught monsters and don't know what to do with them but the monsters haven't died yet.

I don't know, Sandy.  I've been looking for that trombone button for a while now, and I think I've almost figured out where it is.  As soon as I find it I'll join a jazz band.

One might suggest that you can't practice the new "tricks" until you've learned them.  As for why is it different than weapon skills - it's pretty easy to go to the casino and pay for the next level;  but the weapon skills only go up with an increase in dexterity so the ability to learn beyond 100% is considerably more important to the game.
I was mainly concerned that I was doing something wrong, and that I could be taking advantage of learning beyond 100% on stealing/robbing - but since V mentioned in chat that it's supposed to be that way I'm satisfied.

OK, I'm satisfied it's not a glitch and it does make sense.

Why does the stealing level's percentage revert to zero every time you buy a new level?  Eg, I had level 94(199%) and bought a level and it became 95(0%).

Not quite - the more dexterity you have the higher your skills can go.  Nothing can change the rate of increase except the amount that you actually use the weapon.
