I also wish tanx would be back on the main page, but unfortunately some things change and not always for how we want them to. Brings me back to how we (me and some other enthusiasts) dreamed of tanx2 😁. Even though java isn't mainstream anymore - the game idea itself is great! So who knows 😁... If it happens I would defenitely come back to more active playing, for the old times. I assume some other veterans of the game would as well.

Hi everyone.
Had some nostalgic feeling, decided to visit FlyOrDie again. Some things changed, but it's nice to see some new forum posts in tanx sections still.
So I've been reading and thought to myself... what if some would like to ask me something and I could actually answer that? I came up with hosting a small AMA event.
Basically, 'A'sk 'M'e 'A'nything. I don't promise fast responses or don't promise responses to certain questions, but I will try, depending on how actively the questions will be popping up :)

I see that you have registered recently but your claim seems to use some words with big mass, like 'all players', 'too often'... I assume you are exaggerating, but that's not quite why I reply to this.
Recently there was another post on forum which was questioning the algorithm, but I was (hopefully) able to find an explanation. So, if you have an exact position or sequence of moves played - maybe I could try helping your case, too.

I am an old user, back in the day rules of use looked different, but this new version has a section with the following (under site rules):

'Only one account
Members may only have ONE FlyOrDie.com account, unless explicitly allowed to have more. Members who create more than one account may have all accounts closed.'

Back in the day there was a similar limitation but in terms of service, which everyone also agreed to nonetheless.

About me though - did I really get 2100?? I think i barely made it over 1k splats, but i don't know for sure since I didn't remember the numbers i started with. Is there any way to double check? Maybe 1100 is more accurate?
Also construction - i did build a lot (40 building points every trip to TA) but... Did i really build THIS much :D?

Ok, I was hoping someone else would comment on this, but here's my guess:
First, I will assume that top right corner is T19. Then, black can pretty much force this sequence if it's their move:
(Black) T12 T11 T14 T15 S17 S16 T17
After which white cannot answer T16 due to T14 eating white group, and cannot play T18 due to T19, thus two black stones on S17 and T17 live, and white side dies after black add T18 and T19 (bottom half has just 1 eye).
So, I guess evaluation software sees this killing sequence for black if it's blacks move, and thus knows white needs one more stone to truly live there. Hence thinks that territory is 'undecided' yet.
Let me know your thoughts.

paper skill, you are right than punishments decrease the number of dots and most likely slow down the progress bar.
I would like to add though, back more than 12 years ago I got more than a dot - a temporary ban. And back then I didn't have a lot of dots, but I honestly didn't pay attention to those (defenitely remember 4 in around 2010). However now I've got 6 already, so it's defenitely growing if the person is playing by the rules of the website. So no need to worry about it too much, just keep playing and it will come.

Basicly means when you dont have 2 dots your allowed to be abused

??? Everyone who becomes a member of FlyOrDie agrees to follow the site's rules as per

As per 2 dot rule - I believe it does make sense, as that limits its own abuse (otherwise a random could make a new nick and spam the button on everyone just to mess with moderators). 2 dot oldtimer score also isn't hard to achieve for a member with mediocre activity unless he misbehaves which leads to punishments.

I recently played some games. It seemed like dice was favouring my opponent all 3 games in a row, but I think the reality is I just played worse. And I was the weaker player, and I don't play much. So based on this little experiment -
1. Of course dice would favour one of the two players, it's highly unlikely to keep the symmetry during the whole game. Whoever's more lucky gets the more suitable dots.
2. No, dice doesn't favour a weaker side (me) - otherwise I would win at least 1 of 3 games :D
3. In what world would it be harder to write 'Dice1 = R6; Dice2 = R6;' than 'Dice1 = If{Rating1-Rating2/100 < 1: R6: Else{Rating1-Rating2/100 < 2: R5+1: Else...}...}...}... Or whatever that code would look like??? Sorry, not a programmer myself, but it's just a common sense.

This applies to me so much now that I think about it. I found FlyOrDie thanks to its snooker game during snooker world championships, but eventually parked here, in 2005. Wow, more than 10 years ago. Just as peter said...
It was a fun game first, then a challenge to overcome 100 points, then forming teams and having fun together, then clanship, then climbing to top, overcoming different rivals, finding new friends, becoming a moderator and so on... All this while having fun, improving English skills, overcoming difficulties and realizing the creativity potential (like making websites, teaching methods, RED TANX (anyone?), trickshot…

Hi everyone.
Was looking through some forum messages, figured some players are somewhat around. Just like me.
So I decided I will be sitting in unranked operations in room one, looking for random conversation with anyone who goes by, though I may not answer right away (and that most likely is going to be the case). This won't be everyday, but I will do it from time to time. See you around!
Who knows, maybe we could even randomly gather this was for a 2v2 fight. We'll see.
