How do Clones make decisions

I was wondering how clones make decisions in the arena.  Do they attack with a ranged weapon first and then move to hand to hand or will they ignore that weapon and make it samrt to clone yourself with a shield?

i'm thinking they attack with whatever will do the most damage, magic or weapons.
they will attack with a ranged weapon first, then go to melee, i think. i'm just making an educated guess.
