Is the game deterministic
Is the game deterministic? If you throw a stone with the exact same speed and direction, will it end up in the exact same spot.

It seems to not be deterministic based on my testing when I tried with full speed. Why is this random element added?
And more specifically, what is the random part? Does it randomly add some extra speed? Change in direction? Both?
I'm a new player but I noticed this too - I think it only applies when using full power, and the aim seems to vary by about a stone's width. I don't think the power is affected. Slightly below full power still gives the exact aim you chose.

I guess this was implemented because otherwise, any shot with full power would be too easily repeatable.

You can replicate full power every time with no timing element (just hold until release) - if the aim were identical every time, you'd be able to hit the exact spot you want without fail, and not even needing to sweep as you'd be 100% sure where it's going as soon as it's released.

The variation and skill in release timing at any other power level means it isn't necessary to 'RNG' the aim.
That makes sense. Yes, that's a good hypothesis for how it works. That's how I noticed it as well - by solo training full power takeouts.

I kind of hope you are right in this, cause would be nice it everything is deterministic other than full power shots. Would just feel a bit weird if you make the perfect shots, but lose to randomness.

Anyone else, perhaps with more experience, who can confirm this is the way it works?
It’s not only on full power takeouts. The game will about 50% of the time either move your broom to the left or right as much as a full rock as some have said. This has been the case for well over a decade, but nothing has been done.

Yes 100 % correct MB, but we would like to know what is "it", by purpose or yust the server, or lag maybe?, but i guess like manny other questions we wont get a straight answer
It’s certainly not a lag. It’s an issue with the game that seems to be built in. You can actually physically see the broom move left or right if you play on mobile (not sure about pc), but only for your opponent’s shots. You can also see this behaviour when spectating.

In my loong experience its only on full speed you this big uncertainty.
Also a bit with rocks crossing the center maybe, or maybe I just dont use those often enough to learn;-)
Otherwise I find it at least 99% deterministic, BUT there is a speed unit, so visually 50% speed could result in like 50,5% speed or 49,5 % speed causing a bit variance in length (but "easily" solved by brooming).
