Hello Quick Queen,
Subscribers can add other players to their buddy list which will be preserved across sessions.
Clicking on someone's nickname and then on the buddy symbol at the bottom of the window 
(in the lobby of a game)  is how you mark them as a buddy
If you've marked someone as your buddy, you'll see their writing in yellow.
