6-0 to england - great warmup :D
Brazil are the obvious favourites to win, and as I said before my outside chance are Portugal because they have a great manager and good form. There are many great sides with a chance - Argentina, Holland and France for example, whilst England, Germany and Spain can be contenders if they don't bottle it.
Hey im a huge blackburn fan and i wont have ur rubbish bout us fouling the most!!! savage is a dirty git but hes welsh so what do u expect but we get cheated all the time. if i was robbed of points every game then i wud wanna break ur legs too!!!!
What a comeback from the aussies 10 mins from time and 3 great goals. looking forward to the next austrailia game. :D
czech's were very impressive today, best so far i've seen
How Good Was Tomas Rosicky :O Top Class Player

Czechs Will Go Far This Year, Quarters Or Semi's I Think
The Czechs think they can go all the way... and if they play like that all the time they have a chance to make it real.
what do u all think about tonite match between brazil VS croatia??

do you think the result will be 3-0??

i got one predict site that predict the score

http://soccerfeast.com
I believe it was more of a lack of offence on the americans side than a slaughtering offence from the Czech's.

They may have looked good playing the seemingly inept US but if they are going to allow the aposing team to play with the ball 65% of the time I believe they may run into some troubles.
Yes USA were terrible, lmao what are they 4th or 5th in fifa rankings? Shows what a complete joke all that is. Czechs are always dangerous but with Baros out and now Koller (not sure how long) they wont go much further ;)
if you missed todays game between Argentina and the Serbs,do yourself a favour and try and see it.
one of the best games i have seen, EVER.

the 2nd goal was absolute class.

 my tip lookin good now:D
Italy Vs USA

what all ur comment?

do the result win in big score like argentina last nite or just 1-0?

give more commment

predictions for the following 4 matches (2nd round)

germany 2 - 1 sweden
england 2 - 0 ecuador
ghana 1 - 0 brazil
italy 0 - 1 australia
>ghana 1 - 0 brazil
>italy 0 - 1 australia

1 upset maybe, but not 2.
hes still not playing as he used to
40 yreas of darkness,10 days before we see the light lads..COME ON ENGLAND:-)
Did i say ears lol..i meant years..
Bad luck England ,,,they gave it a good go with only 10 men .

a bunch of failures always have been in anything really, cant believe they won it in 66. The manager was the main problem but after rooney sending off you have to say the players aint up to it. Best ever chance in years, and will be a long long time before they do anything! Lampard was awful (like the team) all tournament, and the penalties were shocking (as usual)
Although we deserved to win the game with our battling performance.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH AND DID NOT DESERVE TO WIN THE WORLD CUP!
Portugal 3 England1(penalty shootout)

carlsberg dont do penalty shootouts but if they did
theyd probably be the best shootouts in the world:p
Semi final draw
                 Italy v Germany
                 France v Portugal

    Scotlands group for european championships2008

          Scotland
          France
          Italy
          Ukraine
          Georgia
          Faroes
          Lithuania

  2 semi-finalists and a quarter-finalist in the same group:(

looks like its onto world cup2010 for us:(
Have you ever noticed when they interview (especially the english player's)after the match, there vocabulary contain's only one word (Erm),grossly over-paid retard's.
It's called a filler and is part of everyone's discourse, not just a football players.
Trust the forum queen to pipe up.
france will win world cup now brazils gone
Did anyone notice that England did as well as Brazil and Argentina? ;)

We did better with 10 men because we
had
to play - just goes to show that what I have been saying about Sven all along is true. He doesn't motivate the players, doesn't know how to pick a team and is useless at tactics. His only ever success was in one lucky season at Lazio.
GOOD RIDANCE, GO MAKE SOMEONE ELSE UNHAPPY X-(
What a shambles at the end of the day..i had hope, but the tactics were useless ..what worries me is ..if they might have came from the new england manager( he should know about attackin football from his time at United) ..ah well ..another few years without a trophy wont hurt ..we are used to it ..one up front ..what a crappy statergy..no wonder Rooney lost his rag ..we had the players, they just wernt used right ....yeah .i agree with u for once Beppee ..good riddence to that over paid over s****d turnip .swede i meant ..Roll on world cup ..2046..i think thats the next time we can expect to win it at this rate ..
> Did anyone notice that England did as well as Brazil and Argentina?

i dont remember england showing off any skills, the only person who can even do a step over is joe cole. even still he isnt that good
and i dont remember england winning any1 in the world cup 6-0

Sure, but like Argentina and Brazil we made it to the 1/4 final stage. Maybe they should do less step-overs and focus on scoring more goals when it counts. As should England X-(

Our excuse was Sven Goran Ericson, what was theirs?
Why will my reply needed to be approved first?

Anyway, England were flops and they shouldn't have been. I expected them to go far but they never once played like a world class team. Germany have looked world class, Italy have (at times) and France are starting to look it. England have a lot of work to do.

Euan

P.S. FlyOrDie, stop permanently banning every nick I post with. I'm hardly here anyway.
France did less against Portugal than we did. The difference was that they got a penalty. Yes England were dull and below par in all their games, not putting in a performance worthy of a World Cup winner - but what's to say that we couldn't have beaten France and picked up for the game against Italy? The side had the potential, but I reckon the manager never wanted them to win.
New Manager & New Team is what england need. theo? what was all that about. my mates kept saying that theo was like a secret weapon that he wud put him on when england were trailing but sven never did... so what was the exact point of taking him
id understand if he needed someone but he already had defoe to take
it was mostly the managers fault .. no help from rooney tho.
the thing is with theo, does steve mclaren pick him in his first squad?
dropping him could really affect the guy, confidence wise, and would make the inclusion of him in the world cup squad even more daft.
it would also show that their was no communication between sven and his assistant(mclaren).

also, what he did to Lennon in the portugal game was more disgusting than anything that went on,on the field.
putting the guy on,watch him be one of Englands more positive players, then haul him off again so someone else can have a shot from 12yards.
It was total disrespect to lennon and made him look a right mug.

> also, what he did to Lennon in the portugal game was more disgusting than anything that went on,on the field.

I agree. subbing a sub is jst wrong. i wonder ho9w lennon felt

That's an unfair accusation. I am sure that they would have decided who the best penalty takers were before the game, and Lennon would have expected to be taken off. Actually, with Sven... maybe you are right.
fair enough beppe, but goalkeeper and 5penalty takers aside their was another 5 players who could have been sacrificed.

why could'nt one of the remaining 5 been taken off instead of lennon?

was he not to be trusted from 12yards?
Cool, I found a picture of the Portugal 2006 training ground...

Rofl Funny Pic But England Must Be Sore Losers
Im going for Italy today lads ..seeing as though half their squad plus their manager might end up at O.T lol
As a French supporter for the final, Zidane's headbutt was priceless :D - better than seeing them lift the cup!
Zidane?

Why??????????????????

makes no sense at all
actually it wasn't priceless it probably cost me a tenner down at bookies.. but yes fun to watch :p
I think it's time that FIFA cut down on the cheating which goes on at the top level of football. We don't need the diving, the backchat or players trying to influence referees. Can't teams like Italy, Portugal and co cut down on these things and start playing fair football? They probably need to rely on these things and I doubt they would be as good otherwise.

I think that players should be carded for diving - if a player throws himself on the ground and the opponent never got the ball, it's usually either a free kick or a dive. If a player hasn't won the foul then there is often a case for a yellow for diving. It's not difficult to spot, but even if FIFA were to study matches afterwards and ban people for games it would cut down on the cheating. Maybe the ban should doubled each time as an incentive, or is replicated for their club matches as well as for international games.

I also would like to see players carded for trying to get others booked. If a player holds up an imaginary card, he should be booked straight away. That happened at least once at the World Cup and I think it is a rule, but so many times it was ignored. Maybe football should follow ice hockey and only the captain can discuss an issue with the ref. All others should be booked if the ref hasn't approached them first. This would cut down a lot on indiscipline. In hockey a player challenging the ref against the rules is out of the game, and as a result you don't see it often at all - football is different, but they need to learn from other sports if they want to retain the integrity of the game.

The other thing I would like to see is referees looking out for poor sportsmanship. Gamesmanship is a part of any sport, but there is no need to push it to the levels that Zidane had to put up with. Football is trying to stamp out racism, and referees can punish verbal abuse. Materazzi should have been sent of for his comments long before Zidane reacted if what has been suggested is true. I know that people should be more thick skinned, but make the rules consistent - if such verbal abuse is allowed, then don't make rules against it. If you make a rule, then call it when the offence happens. This is a professional sport and it should be consistent.

FIFA are afraid of dealing with these issues. One referee did, and the game ended up with 4 red cards and two beheadings. What happened after? The referee was sent home. What should have happened? Several players should have been sent home. To cut down on the cheating we need a period where refs are not afraid to send several players off. Eventually teams will have to learn to control themselves to keep up with those who play fair. That should be FIFA's goal, not an affiliation with the Oscars.

Congratulation to France, they have played within the rules and got to the final despite having issues within their team. I know that players like Henry play to invite tackles for free kicks and penalties, but this is a part of the game (the opponent doesn't
have
to make the tackle. Italy may not be as bad as teams like Spain and Portugal, but they dive at key moments and often without contact. I wasn't sure at first but now I see Australia were truly mugged by a player who threw himself over the defenders legs. They didn't profit against France, but they tried. For that reason teams like France, Germany (can't believe I am saying this) and England are the true champions in my mind - ambassadors for a sport which needs a serious shake up.
haha brilliant :D ZiZu u legend!!
Zindane was trully a great player ,and at least he showed consistency,he settled the 98 final with his head ,and did the same on sunday too :p..
Why is this post always saying it's "Da Magician" who posted last ?

:|
The games getting too soft,we need strong tackles without players living in fear of getting booked..by the time the next world cup comes along..i reckon players will be carded just fo looking at each other ..who makes the rules F.I.F.A?..come on its a mans game ..

If F.I.F.A want a no contact sport ,maybe they should divert their attention to .......netball?:|

All this discussion over refereeing - you folksshould come down to the Conference! The term a good ref is used around once a season!
