First of all read and understand the Moderation page. That is our code of law.
It is a useful convention that everybody moderates his own section. That is, if a moderator plays Tanx regularly then he is the primary responsible for the Tanx forum and the Tanx rooms.
Administration area: forum.flyordie.com/admin
Before you start, FlyOrDie staff grants moderation permission to your regular player nick. On the login screen enter your regular player name and password.
From here you can move topics, delete topics and delete messages.
You might also edit a message, so instead of deleting the message itself, you should just delete the content of the message. /p>
You can communicate with other moderators at https://www.flyordie.com/forum/categories/moderators which is only visible to moderators. You might also contact any other moderator in the games.
When you're in the game logged in with your moderator nick, there is a special
tool available from the player info page, i.e. the moderation button.
The process is quite simple, you have to
specify the reason, by selecting one of the pre-set reasons on the right side, then set duration of the banishment (leave empty if permanent), and finally press "give demerit", "ban temporarily" or "ban permanently".
You can give a custom description besides the default public reasons, which will be displayed for the player when logging in, even if there is default selected before.
Notes inserted in the note filed will be only displayed for the moderators, players can't see this one.
Add note field and button on the moderation screen will add the note with current date and moderator name.
You can still edit the moderation record of a player without adding date and name, just like before using the "save notes only button", e.g. when adding names to the "aka list" of certain players...
This is where you can remove introductions or pictures as well.
Rules for permanent banishment is quite strict, it can be only applied if the nick itself violates rules or if it is a secondary nick
which is used only for provocation.
Banishment over 24 hours is generally not recommended, only for repeated, intentional provocations or after a few shorter bans.
After banning the player you may boot him/her from the lobby with the /boot command.
Clicking on a player's name in the player list after typing /boot will automatically type the
name of the given player there.

Suggestion for beginners: only apply demerits during the first week as a moderator, and only apply temporary bans or demerits (no perm bans) in the next 2 weeks. Watch and listen to the more experienced mods. Never confront any other moderator in public. That's what the moderator list and internal forum is for ;)
You may notice that the tools you get are far from being perfect. The good news that they can be enhanced relatively easier then - for example - the games (the tools don't have to look professionally etc.). If you have some idea which makes moderation easier send it to the email list.
You may also recommend changes to the Moderation rules, for example if you feel that something is missing or not clean enough.
